2nd Ewiem Nimdie International Summer School Theme: Weather and Climate Forecasting in Africa and its Application to Agriculture & Water Resource Management. 19 July – 31 July 2010 The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana, in collaboration with ICTP, and the universities of Reading and Leeds and GMet will organize the 2nd Ewiem Nimdie International Summer School, at KNUST from 19 July to 31 July 2010. Following the successful organization of the first summer school in 2008, this summer school aims at bringing students, researchers and forecasters from Africa and around the world to participate in field studies and lectures and practical classes in West African Meteorology and Climate Short range forecasting and seasonal forecasting Applications in Agriculture & Water Resource Management An important aspect of the Summer School is the ample time allotted to discussions/interactions and oral/poster presentations from participants. Funding The Summer School forms part of the ICTP Training and Capacity building programme in meteorology and climate science, and is funded by a grant from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE grant 241.FITU.11.G). PARTICIPATION The Summer School is open to scientists, young researchers and PhD students working in areas of Atmospheric Physics, Meteorology, Climatology, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences without workshop fees. Scholarships will be available to postgraduate students from African countries outside Ghana. For non-African students, a participation fee of 400 EUR will be paid to take care of accommodation, internal transport and feeding for the entire duration of the summer school. ACCOMMOTATION There is excellent accommodation for the invited lecturers and participants on the beautiful environment of the KNUST campus in Kumasi.
